Community supported industry links consumers and producers in the co-creation of place-based businesses to create jobs and build community wealth. We see an opportunity for Berkshire County to shift our regional economy from an over dependence on tourism to a more diverse mix of manufacturing enterprises based on renewable local resources such as timber, food crops and wool. Those new enterprises will need access to land. We are currently developing collaborations with other economic development organizations to build a model that includes community ownership of land for local businesses.
